June 23, 2023
It is expected that the government of India is likely to release the 14th installment of the PM Kisan Scheme with no surety to it. However, the government has announced a facial recognition feature in the ‘PM Kisan Yojana’ mobile application to facilitate the farmer’s identification process through e-KYC.
Now, Farmers can easily complete their KYC Identification through face scan instead of OTP and fingerprints. In recent months, eKYC for farmers in the PM Kisan Yojana app was done through biometrics or OTPs that were linked with Adhaar cards.
PM Kisan Yojana (scheme) is a government-subsidized scheme to provide income support for landholding farmers in India. Under this scheme, Farmer families get INR 6000 per year in three installments of INR 2000 each. As this scheme aims to provide financial assistance to poor farmers, eKYC is mandatory for the registration of farmers. On February 27th, 2023 the government released the 13th installment of PM Kisan where many farmers failed to receive the due amount due to incomplete verification. Now, the remaining farmers will receive Rs 4000 including the last due payment and the upcoming one.
